Accra, Ghana — The leadership of the Ghana Youth Federation (GYF) has held a high-level engagement with the Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority (NYA) as part of ongoing efforts to formally institutionalise the Federation across all regions of Ghana.

The meeting, which followed an earlier formal request, focused on a detailed work plan outlining the steps required to establish the Ghana Youth Federation as a fully operational national body. Discussions covered progress made to date, next phases of implementation, and the resources required to ensure the Federation’s effective rollout at district, regional, and national levels.

President of the Ghana Youth Federation, Mr Sherif Ghali, led the delegation and presented an overview of the work completed so far. He also walked the NYA leadership through the Federation’s proposed roadmap, including coordination mechanisms, stakeholder engagement processes, and the operational support required during the formative phase.

Responding to the presentation, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to supporting the formation of the Federation, noting that the establishment and resourcing of the Ghana Youth Federation falls squarely within the NYA’s statutory mandate.

“You cannot give birth to a child and refuse to support it,” the CEO remarked, assuring the Federation’s leadership of the Authority’s continued technical, institutional, and financial backing until the Federation is able to stand independently.

The NYA further pledged to work closely with the Federation’s leadership to ensure that the process remains inclusive, structured, and aligned with national youth development priorities.

In his closing remarks, Mr Ghali expressed appreciation to the NYA and its leadership for their openness and support, and reaffirmed the Federation’s commitment to maximum collaboration with the Authority as both institutions work towards strengthening youth representation and coordination nationwide.

The engagement marks a significant step in the long-standing effort to establish a unified, functional national youth body to represent and coordinate youth organisations across Ghana.
