The Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment has officially inaugurated its Ministerial Advisory Board to strengthen youth-focused policy formulation and implementation in Ghana.

The ceremony, held on Monday, 10 November 2025, at the Ministry’s conference room, brought together key leaders and partners committed to advancing the national youth agenda.

In his remarks, the Minister, Hon. George Opare Addo, described the inauguration as a milestone in the country’s efforts to align youth policies with national priorities. He cautioned members not to view the Board as a routine structure but as a legally mandated body with the responsibility to drive real impact.

“The Advisory Board must serve as a think tank for the Ministry, offering bold and innovative recommendations that respond to the needs of young people,” he said. He urged the members to focus on actionable solutions in areas such as education, skills development, entrepreneurship, and civic engagement.

The Minister noted that Ghana’s youth form the majority of the population and must remain central to all national development strategies.

Members of the newly constituted Board pledged their commitment to support the Ministry in shaping inclusive and evidence-based youth policies that create lasting opportunities for young Ghanaians.

The Advisory Board is chaired by Hon. George Opare Addo, with Mrs. Emma Ofori Agyemang, Chief Director of the Ministry, as a member. Other members include Mr. Hamidu Adakurugu (Esq), Chief Director at the Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment; Prof. George K.T. Oduro, Technical Advisor at the Ministry of Education; and Ms. Faustina Acheampong, Director of the Department of Gender at the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection.

Also serving on the Board are Mr. Sherif Ghali, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Young Entrepreneurs and Acting President of the Ghana Youth Federation; Ms. Betty Simawua Annan, Country Director of the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa; Mr. Nii Dodoo Dodoo, Country Director of the British Council; and Ms. Esi Mansa Oklu, Director of General Administration at the Ministry, who serves as Secretary.

The Ghana Youth Federation congratulates all members of the Board and commends the Ministry for this strategic step. The Federation looks forward to collaborating closely with the Ministry and the Advisory Board to ensure youth voices continue to influence national policy and drive inclusive development across Ghana.
